Collon House ~ A Hidden Gem in Co Louth

Discover Ireland with me

The island of Ireland is scattered with hidden gems. Collon House, a restored Georgian property is the perfect example of one such a gem. This period property would be the ideal place to stay for the discerning guest who might want to explore the 'Ancient East'. Here you can explore a spectacular 5,000 years of ancient history. Did you know that you can explore sites that are older than the pyramids of Egypt ? You can.

Built in 1740 in the Irish Long House style, Collon House was teh home of Anthony Foster, Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer. His famous son John "Speaker" Foster (born 1740), was the last Speaker of the House of Commons up to its dissolution by the Act of Union in 1800. John Foster later became a peer of the United Kingdom as Baron Oriel  of Ferrard in the county of Louth until his death in 1828.
